BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Ada County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate the shooting death of Deputy Tobin Bolter.
Deputy Bolter was shot while conducting a routine traffic stop on the evening of April 20, 2024. He died the next morning in the hospital. The man suspected of shooting Deputy Bolter was identified as65-year-old Dennis Mulqueen. Mulqueen had a misdemeanor warrant for a DUI.
Responding Boise Police Officers found Mulqueen near a home after he abandoned his vehicle. Police report that Mulqueen fired at officers who were attempting to take him into custody. A BPD Officer returned fire, according to police, striking Mulqueen once. He was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the shooting, looking for more answers in the death of Deputy Bolter. The Sheriff's Office is requesting that anyone who may have home surveillance video in the area W. Overland Rd. and S. Albright Ln. from between the hours of 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm on the evening of April 20, please submit it.Detectives are specifically looking for footage of the vehicle depicted below, a gray 1999 GMC Yukon.
