Boise, ID (CBS2) — An artist from Boise has done something no other living artist has done.
Boise artist Benjamin Victor now has four larger-than-life statues at the US Capitol.
The state of Arkansas commissioned Victor to create a statue in tribute to Daisy Gatson Bates, an unsung hero of the civil rights movement.
Bates was a mentor to the Little Rock Nine, a group of Black students who were the first to desegregate schools in Arkansas and break the color barrier.
The Statue was installed on May 3 and was officially unveiled at a dedication ceremony on Wednesday.
