The Los Angeles Lakers’ newest addition Bronny James has been making the headlines lately after his recent performances in the NBA Summer League. Notably, James had a poor start to the summer league which saw the Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown doubt his abilities to be a “pro.” However, the Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren came in James’ support after his recent performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers, taking a sly shot at Brown.

After witnessing James create a stir during LA’s 93-89 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, Holmgren decided to have a little fun. He quickly took to social media to praise James’ performance against the Cavs and also took to X to call him a “pro”, aiming a sly dig towards Brown and his previous comments which also saw Holmgren becoming a Lakers fan favorite.

Chet Holmgren wrote on X, “Looked like a pro” under a post that showcased the stats of James’ performance against the Cavs in the Summer League. In addition to Dalton Knecht (20 points, seven rebounds), Bronny did appear to be a pro as they helped the Lakers win their second NBA Summer League game in a row.

On the contrary, the Lakers added James and Knecht during the 2024 NBA Draft as the 55th and 17th overall pick, respectively. Both the rookies have been turning it up recently in the Summer League for the Lakers, with Knecht performing top-notch consistently. Hence, it remains to be seen how these youngsters will be added to the main roster in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

The Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown was caught on camera saying, “Bronny James is not a pro” during the Los Angeles Lakers against Celtics game in the Summer League. However, since Brown’s comment regarding Bronny James, the Lakers rookie has turned it up for his side in the Summer League with good performances against the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He scored 12 points on 45.5% from the field and 40% from three against the Atlanta Hawks. Bronny also contributed 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and three rebounds to his team’s most recent Summer League triumph. This performance also made the OKC Thunder star Chet Holmgren praise James on social media.

On the contrary, James hopes to make an early mark on his side’s new head coach JJ Redick, and their GM Rob Pelinka. With the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season approaching quickly, James hopes he does enough to be a part of the core group of players to perform for the Lakers in the new season. It will be intriguing to watch how James develops further in the Summer League.
