Daniel Smith was born in Mexia, situated in the U.S. State of Texas, to Billy Wayne Smith and Anna Nicole Smith. He was born when his mother was only 18 years old and working as a cook at a Krispy Fried Chicken outlet, while his father was 17 years old.
After his parents divorced in 1987, Smith was raised in Texas by his mother and maternal grandmother, Virgie Arthur, until he was six years old. He attended North Hollywood High School in Los Angeles. He was the stepson of J. Howard Marshall II, whom his mother met in a strip joint and married in 1994.
In the summer of 2006, he attended Los Angeles Valley College and was described by his mother as a “straight-A honour student” at the time.
