BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — U.S. News has released its latest ranking of the Best States, and Idaho came in at #5.
According to U.S. News, the Best States rankings take in thousands of data points to measure a state's performance. These data points include health care, education, and a state's economy, infrastructure, and public safety. Health care and education were weighted most heavily, followed by fiscal stability, crime and corrections, and a state's natural environment.
Idaho's economy pushed it into the top 5, ranking #2 in overall state economy. Crime and corrections and fiscal stability also ranked very highly, #12 and #9 respectively. One point of contention Idahoans might have with the ranking is where Idaho's natural environment came in, at #29.
