CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) — A 25-year-old Nampa gang member has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after he and two other gang members attacked a man last summer.
The Canyon County Prosecutor's office says Javier J. Garcia and two other members of the Sureno Mob Trece gang jumped the victim at his house and began attacking. Prosecutors say Garcia, 20-year-old Jose Mejia of Nampa and a juvenile gang member caused numerous injuries to the man, including a a broken fibula and tibia.
Mejia was sentenced last month to serve up to 10 years in prison. Garcia will have to serve a minimum of six years behind bars before he's eligible for parole.
“There is simply no place for this type of gang activity in our communities, where gang members can beat an innocent man for no apparent reason other than being related to a member of a rival gang,” said Bryan Taylor, Canyon County prosecutor. “Hopefully, this sentence sends a message to all the gang members out there that we will find you and hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
