Randy Orton is a name that needs no introduction to wrestling fans. Over the past 20 years of his career, The Apex Predator of the WWE has done everything to prove why he is one of the greatest wrestlers in history. Talk about any of his gimmicks; he has made them all work over the years. Since making his debut, he has been a part of The Evolution, The Legend Killer, The Viper, and The Apex Predator. He has also won the world championship 14 times in his career.
On the May 20th episode of SmackDown, Randy Orton along with his partner Matt Riddle were defending the Raw Tag Team Championships against The Usos. The RK-Bro lost their titles to The Usos in that match. After the match, The Bloodline launched a brutal attack on Orton and Riddle. During the attack by Roman Reigns and The Usos, Orton suffered a back injury, and since that injury, he has been out of the ring.
Following the back injury, Randy Orton had to undergo back surgery to recover from the injury. Orton has had a history of back problems throughout his career, but he has survived like the legend that he is. Matt Riddle, Orton’s tag-team partner, rose to prominence after Orton’s departure. Riddle challenged Reigns for the Undisputed championship in a great match on SmackDown but failed to win the gold. He paid numerous tributes to The Viper on live television. Especially when it comes to his finishing move, the RKO. Riddle also had an awesome feud with Seth Rollins. However, fans clearly missed the chemistry of RK-Bro in the ring.
Latest Update on Randy Orton’s recovery
At SummerSlam last year, Randy Orton was set to face Roman Reigns for the undisputed universal championship. However, after Orton got injured, WWE had to change the plan. Last year in November, Orton’s wife Kim Orton shared a post informing everyone that Randy was in Birmingham, Alabama, and still recovering. Also earlier this year, Kim posted another photo with Orton, in which Orton looked great after the surgery. And fans expected him to return sooner rather than later.
After his wife posted his photo, Randy Orton was heavily rumored to return at the Royal Rumble, along with other rumored legends. Fans had high hopes of Orton returning and taking down everyone with an RKO. However, that was not the case, as Orton did not show up during the men’s Rumble match. If the recent reports are to be believed, they might have some good news for the fans regarding Randy’s return.
Recent reports suggest Randy Orton underwent successful back surgery last year and is currently recovering. The reports say that the surgery was successful, but he might need some more time to recover and get medically cleared. Randy did not appear on Raw Is XXX or at the Royal Rumble. But fans might see him return before WrestleMania 39 and possibly have a match at the Show of Shows. Randy Orton was rumored to have a match against his tag-team partner Matt Riddle at WrestleMania this year. However, as of now, neither Randy nor Riddle are present on WWE TV.
