Lauren Eliza, also known as Lauren the Mortician on TikTok, gained fame by sharing her experiences as a mortician.

With a substantial following of more than 2.5 million and nearly 70 million likes on her videos, she has recently sparked controversy due to a contentious dispute with another content creator.

But what is the drama about?

TikToker Lauren the Mortician, with over 2.5 million followers, stirred controversy when Jamie Grayson, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, critiqued her car seat advice. Lauren questioned Grayson’s expertise based on his parental status, and later, allegations of transphobia and support for problematic creators like Anthony Raimondi emerged. Additionally, IP Lawyer Jeanette Braun employed questionable tactics to silence critics, fueling mistrust among her followers.

Explained: The Controversy Surrounding TikToker Lauren the Mortician

In the world of TikTok, where content creators often amass large followings, one user, Lauren the Mortician, has stirred up controversy due to her response to child safety concerns, allegations of transphobia, and support for anti-LGBTQ+ influencers

Lauren, whose content often delves into morbid topics, has used her platform in the past to educate users about death and raise awareness about lesser-known hazards that could result in tragic accidents.

Her unique perspective, stemming from her line of work, offered valuable safety tips on dangers parents might not typically consider, making her TikTok account a potentially valuable resource for her followers.

However, the challenge for anyone who seeks to educate and provide advice to a significant following lies in ensuring that the information they share is accurate and reliable. Not presenting oneself as an expert on topics for which they lack qualifications is crucial.

Lauren’s controversy began when she became the subject of criticism from Jamie Grayson, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) with a decade of experience in educating parents and caregivers on proper car seat usage.

Grayson posted a TikTok cautioning viewers not to take car seat advice from non-experts like Lauren, highlighting inaccuracies in her videos. Grayson’s video was respectful and aimed at correcting misinformation, not attacking Lauren’s character.

In response, Lauren took to Facebook to pose a hypothetical question that was clearly directed at Grayson.

She questioned whether people would take baby product advice from a man without children and insinuated that Grayson was merely seeking financial gain.

This response not only seemed defensive but also discriminatory, as it dismissed Grayson’s expertise and experience solely based on his parental status.

To make matters worse, Lauren reiterated these sentiments on the Dumb Blonde podcast, where she shared misinformation and derogatory statements about Grayson’s certification and career.

She claimed that he had launched a hate campaign against her, which was not the case.

These actions raised concerns about Lauren’s willingness to accept constructive criticism and her tendency to resort to mockery and humiliation rather than owning up to her mistakes.

The feud with Grayson led to heightened scrutiny of Lauren’s social media activity, revealing allegations of transphobia and support for anti-LGBTQ+ influencers

A TikTok user compiled evidence of Lauren following and liking content from alt-right and transphobic creators, which raised concerns within the TikTok community.

TikToker "Lauren the Mortician" and her law firm, Braun IP, are suing social media creator "CaffinatedKitti" for defamation.

Lauren’s response to these allegations did little to ease concerns, as she used the excuse that one of the influencers, Anthony Raimondi, she followed was gay, attempting to justify her support for him despite his harmful rhetoric.

Furthermore, Lauren’s generic responses, claiming support for women and the LGBTQ+ community without addressing her problematic social media behavior, fell short of addressing the allegations.

To make matters worse, IP Lawyer Jeanette Braun, referred to as Janet, has been actively using social media to defend Lauren the Mortician

She has taken various actions, including filing false welfare checks against critics, issuing numerous unfounded copyright claims on platforms like TikTok and YouTube, and attempting to have individuals banned from these platforms, with some success.

Lauren the mortician and her unhinged lawyer are jointly suing people? Since when does a lawyer AND their client sue somebody together for defamation? Nothing about this seems like normal behaviour to me pic.twitter.com/5RlsmOPrxk

One notable instance involves her targeting the Do We Know Them? Podcast and several TikTok creators through false copyright strikes and a defamation lawsuit. These actions are aimed at suppressing dissenting opinions about her and Lauren.

Overall, her reluctance to take responsibility for her actions and her tendency to deflect blame onto Grayson and others has contributed to a growing distrust among her followers.

Why yes, this defamation nerd HAS been following the situation about Lauren the Mortician, the SWATing, TERF mortician https://t.co/4KRl8mZKUM

To regain trust and credibility, Lauren must adequately address her social media activity and demonstrate a commitment to providing accurate and educational content without allowing her ego to overshadow her responsibilities as an influencer.

But will she do that?

What do you think of the controversy surrounding Lauren? Do you think she stepped out of line with the Jamie Grayson feud?
