Kolstov’s death left Sabalenka broken, but she later revealed they were no longer together. However, just weeks after Kolstov’s death, the Australian Open champion was seen with Georgios Frangulis at the curtain-raiser event of the Madrid Open. There are rumors that Frangulis, founder and CEO of Oakberry, is Sabalenka’s new boyfriend.

At the time of writing, there is no concrete evidence to confirm the rumors, and World No. 2 has yet to post anything concerning a new romance.

Aryna Sabalenka in a must-win run in Madrid Open to save her No. 2 position

Aryna Sabalenka has failed to win more than three matches in a tournament since winning the Australian Open in January.

The Belarusian has been on a run of poor results that has seen her No. 2 position in threat if she does not reach at least the semifinals of the Madrid Open. And Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina do not get past the quarterfinals.

Weeks after becoming Melbourne queen, she crashed out in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championship, losing to Donna Vekic.

At Indian Wells, she lost to American youngster Emma Navarro in the round of 16. Heading to Miami, she decided to play regardless of the news about her ex-boyfriend Konstantin Kolstov’s death. She lost in the second round to Anhelina Kalinina.

After winning her first match on clay at the Stuttgart Open, she lost to semifinalist Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals.

The losses have placed her season in an imbalanced position, and perhaps worse if she doesn’t perform well in Madrid. She will play either Elisabetta Cocciarretto or Magda Linette in the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open.
