The Success of Rick Ross

Rick Ross is not only a talented artist but has the heart of an entrepreneur.  After his release of ‘Hustlin’ in 2006, he went on to create his own label Maybach Music.  Ross continued to push one Billboard hit after another.  Soon, Ross was receiving deals left and right, but it was Jay-Z that won the bidding war and presented Ross with a multi-million dollar deal with Def Jam.

Ross worked with several artists, boosting their careers along the way.  Khaled, Lil Wayne, Kanye West are just a few of the icons that have co-hosted some of his albums, He stays in-tune with his followers on all social media channels.

In 2020, Ross made a single with Drake, “Golden Roses’, that was nominated for Best Rap Song at the Grammy Awards.  Ross has not stopped flowing as a creative spark since 2006.  After 14 years, he remains front and center as the theme song of Miami.

Where It All Started for Rick Ross

Ross grew up in Florida as William Leonard Roberts II.  Hip-hop music became his passion in his early teen years with influences such as Ice Cube, Notorious Big, and Tupac.  In high school, he had earned a football scholarship to attend Albany University.  Ross left Albany after a year as the rapper could not put his ambitions for music aside.  

Ross had to earn money on his way to stardom and worked as a correctional officer for 18 months, something that did not translate well with his brand at the time.  Although it hurt his brand at the time, he overcame the challenge and indicated he would do it all over again.  Ross knew where he wanted to be.  During this timeframe, he took on his stage name of Rick Ross after a nefarious drug lord.

After resigning from being a correctional officer, Ross focused solely on his music career and was signed by Suave Records.  He then moved to Slip-N-Slide where he toured with Trick Daddy assisting in promoting his career.

Ross signed with Ciroc Entertainment and worked with Diddy.  By 2011, he had created Maybach Music Group and was signing his own artists such as Meek Mill and Wale.  Ross went on to produce several albums that topped the charts and left Def Jam for Epic Records.  Both Epic and Ross have had a successful relationship.  You can check out his page with Epic here.

Ross has won a plethora of awards that can be seen on his IMDb page.  His rise to fame has been fast and furious.  He came on the scene like a fireball and was catapulted to the top of the charts in the blink of an eye.  

His entrepreneurial spirit, ambition, and passion for music have built a formidable empire.  Ross has led a distinguished career that is far from over.  His debut song rings true with ‘Hustlin’.  He has certainly proven that we will be seeing his name in Billboard charts and Award nominations for a long time to come.
